Meeting Race to the Top General Requirements

There are several critical requirements represented in the selection criteria that need consideration and coverage in the State proposal, with the following being critical

• Based on a plan that is comprehensive, coherent, and measurable
  • Aligned·By·Design is a integrated, end-to-end solution that will unify all educational processes using discrete Knowledge/Skill items as the unit of alignment and student achievement – the natural educational common denominator
• Creates a more seamless P–20 route for students
  • Aligned·By·Design extends to any grade range and has high definition tools to establish and maintain perfect vertical alignment starting with existing materials
• Provides 50% of funds to LEAs
  • Aligned·By·Design is built on a well defined quality model that easily involves participating Districts in unified goal tasks with great transparency and integrated management tools
• Has States working together
  • Aligned·By·Design includes collaboration and sharing to enable multiple state implementations to easily gain efficiencies including building and sharing libraries of Knowledge/Skill items, Classroom Curriculum and Lesson Plans; and with capability to implement a shared longitudinal data system with optional secure state partitions
• Gives priority to high need Districts and Schools
  • Aligned·By·Design includes extensive tools to design, manage and accomplish school turnarounds including ability to establish and manage customized individual learning plans for every student
• Has broad commitments
  • Aligned·By·Design enables transparency, communications, shared accountability along with higher student achievement – all things needed to gain endorsements and support
