Aligning Classroom Curriculum
 |
|
Translating today’s State Standards is an undue burden to Teachers who are not trained to translate abstract, high level standards into perfectly aligned and sequenced instructional curriculum.
There is also great inefficiency with the
process being done thousands of times over, and the consequence of this far from perfect process is misalignment between
standards, classroom curriculum, and assessments. For better outcomes on EOY assessments,
Teachers are forced to teach to the test.

Until now, aligning Standards perfectly with classroom instruction
has not been achievable.
Teachers are trained and certified to teach, not to
translate abstract, high level Standards into perfectly
aligned classroom Curriculum. Today’s Standards are a
burden to Teachers because they are not in a form
directly usable by Teachers to establish aligned
instructional Curriculum. As a result, Standards are not
well connected to classroom instruction.
Aligned·By·Design solves
that problem by providing Teachers with an easy to use,
effective, efficient way to develop Curriculum that is
aligned by design with Standards.
Aligned·By·Design allows States to promulgate
Standards that leave no doubt or question as to what
needs to be learned and what is going to be assessed by
end-of-year tests. It answers the pressing question
facing Teachers: "What am I really supposed to teach?"
With
Aligned·By·Design, everything is defined. It is fully
descriptive without being prescriptive, focusing on the
delivery of Knowledge and skills, not the generalized
concepts currently presented to Teacher as "Standards of
Learning".
